2023_12_0 Release Notes

Release date: December 18, 2023

The release notes describe changes to Storefront for this release, including new features and enhancements. In addition to these changes, Instacart continually updates the platform to improve accessibility, performance, and stability and to ensure the best user experience for your customers.

New features

The following new features are available in this release.

Creatives manager (Storefront Pro 5)

You can use the Creatives manager to easily create, edit, and manage creatives in your storefront. You can also sort and search for creatives that you want to manage.

After you design creatives, you can add them to static slots on a page.

note

The creatives that you design when you create campaigns also appear in the Creatives manager. You cannot edit creatives in active campaigns.

For more information, see Slots and creatives.

Enhancements

The following enhancements are available in this release.

Recommendations for items customers buy regularly

Added recommendations for items that customers buy regularly to the Buy it again experience. For customers with 0 to 5 orders, these recommendations appear below the Buy it again collection. This experience helps customers build their cart by suggesting items other customers frequently repurchased.

The following image shows an example of the Items customers buy regularly section on a mobile app:

For more information, see Buy it again.

Improved data synchronization (Storefront Pro 5)

Whenever a customer’s data is updated in the retailer’s SSO/CRM system, a synchronization process runs to update the customer’s account settings in the retailer’s Storefront Pro site. The synchronization process uses OpenID Connect (OIDC) with a customer credential access token. This enhancement is enabled for all Storefront Pro retailers with an OIDC identity provider.

Previously, the synchronization process ran only when the customer logged into their account.

Static slots replace static creatives (Storefront Pro 5)

When editing your homepage or content pages in Instacart Platform Portal, you can now insert static slots instead of static creatives. Static slots are more versatile, allowing you to reuse and add existing creatives to a slot. With static creative placements, you do not have the option to add existing creatives.

The following image shows how to add a static slot to a page and how to add existing creatives to the slot:

For more information, see Slots and creatives.

View notes from the Privacy Requests page of Instacart Platform Portal (Storefront Pro 5)

The Privacy Requests page now includes links to notes for the requests that have notes. When you click a link, the note opens in a dialog box.
