2025_05_0 Release Notes

Release date: May 27, 2025

The release notes describe changes to Storefront for this release, including new features and enhancements. In addition to these changes, Instacart continually updates the platform to improve accessibility, performance, and stability and to ensure the best user experience for your customers.

New features

The following new features are available in this release.

Preview collections in context

You can now preview collections to see how they show across your storefront sites and marketplace storefronts. You can also select a store location on the preview page, which allows you to see how customers will see the collection based on their location. For example, you may want to preview how a collection shows on your storefront site before you add it to a department or link it to a creative.

The following image shows the Preview in context option for a collection in Instacart Platform Portal:

Shows a dropdown menu labeled Select site & banner with a search bar and three selectable options: Garden Test, Instacart, and The Fresh Grocery, each showing the subdomain and an icon for The Garden.

For more information, see Manage collections.

Include or exclude products from dynamic collections

You can now include or exclude specific products in dynamic collections in Instacart Platform Portal. For example, you can build a dynamic collection using the Brands rule, and then add or remove products using the Product Inclusion or Product Exclusion rules.

For more information, see Dynamic collections and Manage collections.

Copy flyer layouts across versions (Storefront Pro 5)

You can now efficiently copy flyer layouts from one flyer to another in Instacart Platform Portal. This feature minimizes manual work, ensuring consistent promotional content across multiple locations and banners while significantly reducing setup time.

For more information, see Manage flyers.

Enhancements

The following enhancements are available in this release.

Digital coupons enhancements

Implemented the following enhancements to the Digital coupons page:

  • Improved consistency of customer experience across desktop, mobile, and native apps
  • Reduced initial coupon loading time and introduced pagination to the coupon loading experience
  • Improved image quality by displaying coupon images directly from third parties
  • Improved deeplinking to specific third-party campaigns for coupons

Enhanced Instacart Platform Portal scope selector

The scope selector in Instacart Platform Portal has been redesigned to provide a more intuitive experience of selecting your sites and banners. The scope selector now presents your sites first, with relevant banners nested underneath. Also, some tools now allow you to select multiple sites or banners to complete an action or view information.

The following example shows the scope selector in the Departments tool:

Shows a dropdown menu with grouped site options. Site options include Garden Test, Instacart, and The Fresh Grocery. Each site group lists associated banners with their respective logos.

For more information, see Select a scope.

When a customer views a recipe and adds products to their cart, the recipe page now stays open and then shows Ingredients needed if applicable, and products that are Already in cart.

Instacart sign-on for Storefront Pro (Storefront Pro 5)

New Storefront Pro retailers now have the option to use Instacart sign-on and authentication for customer sign-on. This option allows for branding customization and loyalty integration, while keeping your customer data isolated from Instacart Marketplace customer data.

Enhanced order delivery cart experience

The order delivery cart has been migrated to a new API, introducing faster performance, improved cart user experience, and reduced cart synchronization errors.

Target campaigns based on user logged in state or device type

You can now target campaigns to customers based on the following audience segment criteria:

  • Logged state. Target customers who are logged in or logged out of your site.
  • User device type. Target customers who visit your site using any of the selected devices: desktop web, mobile web, Android, or iOS.

The following image shows a campaign targeting rule with both of these options selected:

Shows a campaign targeting setup with an audience segment, defining logged-in users, as well as user device types, which include Desktop Web, Mobile Web, Android, and iOS.

For more information, see Create a drive awareness campaign and Create an offer discount campaign.

Tax and loyalty pricing clarity

New compliance updates improve pricing clarity on item cards and product details pages where applicable. A Plus tax badge has been added near prices, and both loyalty and non-loyalty pricing are now displayed side-by-side to meet legal requirements. These changes apply across all platforms (Web, Mobile Web, iOS, Android).

note

This enhancement applies to Quebec retailers only, and is also applicable to Instacart Marketplace.
