Checkout

After the customer clicks the Continue to checkout button from the checkout aisle recommendations, the checkout page opens. The customer is prompted for all the information necessary to fulfill the order. The customer can review the order items and totals and then click a button to place their order.

The prompts for details differ depending on the retailer's site configuration.

Delivery order details

The following image shows an example of a checkout page for a delivery order:

For a delivery order, a customer selects the Delivery tab and then provides the following details:

  • Delivery address. The address where the customer wants to receive the order.
  • Delivery time. The window of time when the customer wants to receive their order.
  • Delivery instructions. Instructions to the shopper, such as Go to the side door or Leave order at the door.
  • Mobile phone number. The phone number where Instacart can reach the customer.
  • Payment method. The method of payment. A credit card or debit card is required, but other options might be available.
  • Data sharing. Whether the customer wants Instacart to share data with the retailer.

Pickup order details

The following image shows an example of a checkout page for a pickup order:

For a pickup order, a customer selects the Pickup tab and then provides the following details:

  • Store. The location where the customer wants to pick up the order.
  • Pickup time. The window of time when the customer wants to receive their order.
  • Mobile phone number. The phone number where Instacart can reach the customer.
  • Payment method. The method of payment. A credit card or debit card is required, but other options might be available.
  • Data sharing. Whether the customer wants Instacart to share data with the retailer.

Configuration

You can configure the checkout page to hide or show the following options:

  • Logo. You can use the default Instacart logo or your logo.
  • Delivery and Pickup tabs. If you offer customers only one type of fulfillment option, it is displayed and the other tab is hidden.
  • Time slots. You decide which service options to use to generate the time slots. Service options include estimated time of arrival (ETA) for same day delivery or scheduled for either later the same day or a future day. You can also add priority ETA delivery.   • Payment methods. In addition to core payment methods like credit cards and debit cards, you can offer alternative payment methods like SNAP EBT. For more information, see Payment methods.
  • Instacart+ membership. If you want to offer Instacart+ membership customers the Instacart discounts that they receive when shopping through the Instacart Marketplace, you can prompt customers to link their account. For more information, see Instacart+ membership.
  • Data sharing. Instacart requires a customer's permission to share their details. Add this section if you want to be able to receive customer data. For more information, see Data usage.
