Customer data (Storefront Pro)

info

This capability is available with Storefront Pro 5.

For Instacart Storefront Pro, your customer data is isolated from Instacart Marketplace customer data and other retailers' customer data. The customer data is logically partitioned by means of a tenant ID. Your site is the only site that can access this data.

Instacart and the retailer share responsibilities for the isolated data. Instacart is responsible for storing customer data securely and authenticating customers when they log in. The retailer is responsible for complying with State privacy laws, including managing customers requests for data access and data privacy and managing opt-out preferences.

Retailer benefits

Instacart continues to store customer data securely and manage authentication, but retailers have control over the data and customer interactions.

Retailers gain control over the following tasks and customer interactions:

  • Define the data usage policy for the data they collect.
  • Manage customer requests for data access or data deletion.
  • Manage customers' opt-out preferences.
  • Access customer data through the Instacart Platform Portal.
  • Support customers experiencing trouble with a storefront by logging in as the customer.

Customer experience

When retailers own the data, customers can have the following experiences:

  • Shop from a buy-it-again list that includes only the items they buy through your Storefront Pro site.
  • Contact your customer support team for questions and requests about their customer account needs.
