Conversion tracking and affiliate payments

Instacart Developer Platform partners can apply to join our affiliate program through Impact, which tracks your conversions and pays commissions for the orders attributed to your integration. Sign-up links and program terms and conditions will be shared via email to active partners.

When you create your Impact account, you provide information about your business. This information is used by Impact to list your business in their marketplace. Instacart does not use this information.

Using your Impact ID

  1. After creating your account and receiving your partner ID, update any previously created recipe or shopping list links to use the new URL parameters for Impact.

    • This will allow your old links to track attribution for new orders moving forward.
  2. Append the following query parameters to the end of your old link, replacing <your-partner-id> with your Impact partner-id:

?utm_campaign=instacart-idp&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=instacart_idp&utm_term=partnertype-mediapartner&utm_content=campaignid-20313_partnerid-<your-partner-id>

Example recipe URL

Here's an example of a valid recipe URL:

https://www.instacart.com/store/shopping_lists/4321606?utm_campaign=instacart-idp&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=instacart_idp&utm_term=partnertype-mediapartner&utm_content=campaignid-20313_partnerid-5928554

For newly created recipe or shopping list links, you will see the link returned in the response from Instacart. If you do not see the parameter being returned, contact your Instacart representative.

tip

The old attribution URL parameters are no longer required. Be sure that any new shopping lists or recipes you create with our APIs include the correct URL parameters to guarantee proper navigation.
