Payment descriptors

A payment descriptor is the text that appears on your customers' bank and credit card statements to identify a charge from your storefront. Instacart submits your configured descriptor to card networks. Individual card issuers control how it appears on customer statements.

At authorization, some issuers estimate the descriptor rather than using the one Instacart provides, which can temporarily result in an inaccurate descriptor in mobile push notifications. The descriptor should be accurate on the customer's final statement once the charge settles, typically 3–5 business days after fulfillment.
