Flyers

A flyer (also known as a grocery flyer or weekly ads) contains the deals that you want to advertise to your customers for a period of time. For example, you might advertise weekly or monthly deals. You can create a flyer page in your storefront so that customers can view a digital version of your print flyer and add flyer items to their cart. Customers can view flyers based on their store location.

Flyer types

You can create the following types of flyers:

  • Digital flyer. A page with product tiles organized by category. Features a Great buys section highlighting your best deals and supports multiple concurrent flyers with different schedules. Optionally, you can provide a PDF version of the flyer.
  • Clickable flyer. A PDF that's expandable and clickable. Customers can click an item in the flyer to view it or to add the item directly to their cart.
  • Browsable flyer. A PDF thumbnail alongside flyer item tiles. The PDF is expandable but isn't clickable.

Entry points to the flyer page

Use Instacart Platform Portal to add links to the flyer page from the following locations: a product carousel on the homepage or a content page, a navigation link, or a deep link. For more information, see the following topics:

Flyer product carousels

In addition to the Flyers page, you can display the flyer product collection in a product carousel on a content page or custom homepage.

You have the following options:

  • Flyer Product Carousel. Displays flyer items based on your flyer data files. You can pin products to feature them at the top of the carousel.

  • Flyer Featured Collection. Displays products from your active flyer in a featured layout, with a cover image you upload, a title, and a button that opens your flyer experience.

For more information, see Product carousel.

Example customer journey

note

The customer experience varies by flyer type. Digital flyers display as organized product collections, while clickable and browsable flyers show PDF-based layouts with product tiles.

A customer in the delivery shopping context wants to find out what's in your flyer.

  1. The customer clicks a flyer link in the navigation or View More in the flyer product carousel on the custom homepage.

If you have one flyer available, the customer is directed to the flyer page. If you have multiple flyers, the customer is directed to a page where they can view available flyers and then select the one that they want to browse.

  2. The flyer page displays the flyer items based on the selected flyer type.

  3. The customer browses the flyer.

  4. The customer clicks a category to filter the flyer items.

  5. The customer interacts with the flyer items in the following ways:

    • Clicks a single item tile to view the product details page.
    • Clicks a multi-item tile to view eligible items.
    • Adds items to their cart or shopping list, depending on the shopping context.
