Retailer collections
Retailer collections are created by you and contain products that you define either manually or through a set of rules. Use retailer collections to advertise seasonal promotions, inspire customers to purchase new products outside of their regular shopping list, and help customers start building their cart.
Types of retailer collections
You can create the following types of collections:
- Static collections - Static collections are created manually by you.
- Dynamic collections - Dynamic collections are created dynamically based on a set of rules.
When you create a collection, it's assigned a unique URL to a collection page that displays the collection's products. You can share a collection page URL with customers through campaigns, email, social media, or other marketing channels to drive traffic to your collection.
Retailer collections on your storefront
If you want customers to discover your retailer collections from your storefront, add links to the collection page URLs. For example, you can add a link in your navigation or add the URL to a campaign. You can also display a retailer collection in a product carousel, which includes a View all link to the collection page.
Common collections questions
Why is my collection showing fewer products than expected?
Several factors affect which products appear in a collection. Products must be in stock at the customer's selected store and available for their chosen fulfillment method (delivery, pickup, or in-store). Some items, such as alcohol, may only be available for certain fulfillment types. Additionally, products must be properly configured in your catalog with the correct availability flags. If a collection appears empty, it usually means none of the products meet these availability requirements for that particular customer's location and shopping context.
When should I use static collections versus dynamic collections?
Use static collections for short-term, hand-curated promotions such as holiday events or seasonal campaigns where you want precise control over which products appear and in what order. Use dynamic collections for ongoing, rule-based collections such as "Weekly Deals," "New Arrivals," or category-based browsing that update automatically as your catalog changes. As a general rule, if the collection lasts less than a month, static is usually the better choice.
Why do my collections look different across store locations?
Collections show products based on what's available at each specific store location. A customer shopping at store #1 might see different products than a customer at store #2, even when browsing the same collection. This is because inventory, pricing, and promotions can vary by location. Dynamic collections are especially sensitive to these differences since they filter based on current product attributes such as promotion status or stock levels.
