2025_09_0 Release Notes
Release date: September 30, 2025
The release notes describe changes to Storefront for this release, including new features and enhancements. In addition to these changes, Instacart continually updates the platform to improve accessibility, performance, and stability and to ensure the best user experience for your customers.
New features
The following new features are available in this release.
Tool-based permissions management in Instacart Platform Portal
Admins can now assign tool-based permissions to users and custom roles in Instacart Platform Portal. Permissions are now organized by Instacart Platform Portal’s existing navigation categories and structure. Permissions correspond with tools, so when you assign a permission, the user or role will gain access to the tool. For example, when you select the Executive summary permission, you are granting permission to the Executive summary dashboard.
For a full list of the permissions and access control options Admins can assign, see Permissions and access control.
For more information, see Manage users and Manage user roles.
Language toggle (Storefront Pro 5)
You can now add a language toggle to the desktop or mobile web navigation of your Storefront Pro site if you have multiple locales or languages. When a customer uses the language selector to switch between languages, the navigation links and site content update to their selected language.
The following image shows an example of the language toggle on a desktop site:
In the new Navigation tool in Instacart Platform Portal, you can switch between locales and configure your navigation links for each language.
To enable multiple locales or languages on your Storefront Pro site, contact your Instacart representative.
For more information, see Manage desktop navigation and Manage mobile web navigation.
Customer loyalty ID search in Operational dashboard
In the Instacart Platform Portal's Operational Dashboard, you can now search for orders by customer loyalty ID. Additionally, if a loyalty ID has been applied to one or more orders, that value is now displayed in the orders list and on each order details page.
For more information, see the following topics:
Support for loyalty providers (Storefront Pro 5)
Instacart works with loyalty providers, making it easy to integrate loyalty programs with Storefront Pro. Retailers can conveniently create, manage, and track loyalty programs to help improve the shopping experience by offering benefits like coupons, rewards, membership perks, and personalized savings.
For more information, contact your Instacart representative.
Enhancements
The following enhancements are available in this release.
Enhanced text container creative (Storefront Pro 5)
The text container creative now includes a title option and a separate paragraph section, with enhanced formatting and text alignment controls. You can style the text by adding typographical emphasis, changing text colors, adding links, formatting with lists, and changing alignment. These enhancements increase your options to include branded text on your Storefront Pro site, without the need for image-based text.
Text containers can only be added to static slots on custom homepages or content pages in Instacart Platform Portal.
For more information, see Text container.
Enhanced user experience when adding items post-checkout
The following enhancements improve the post-checkout experience when customers add items to an order:
-
When customers add an item to an order (post-checkout) on mobile apps, the floating cart displays a confirmation message. The floating cart is then updated with the new basket quantity.
The following image shows the floating cart confirmation message after an item is added to an order (post-checkout):
noteDesktop users don't see a floating cart, but they see a similar confirmation message.
-
When a customer adds an item to an order (post-checkout) from the order status page while using the mobile app, a confirmation message appears at the bottom of the screen.
The following image shows a confirmation message when an item is added to an order (post-checkout) from the order status page:
noteThe same confirmation message appears for desktop customers.
Support for weighted item offers in Catalog
You can now use your Catalog inventory file to configure promotional offers that provide discounts based on the weight of purchased items. For example, you can offer customers $1 off per lb when they buy 3 or more lb of ground beef.
The following is a list of the new offer types:
- Buy M Units, Get $X Off per Measurement Unit
- Buy M or More Units, Get $X Off per Measurement Unit
- Buy M Units for $X per Measurement Unit
- Buy M or More Units for $X per Measurement Unit
For more information, see Promotion types and metadata examples in the Catalog documentation.
Search filters for health items
Customers can now use more dynamic search filters to easily find products that match their dietary needs. Customers can filter search results by key dietary tags, such as cage free or grass fed, making it faster and more convenient to discover suitable products.
The following image shows an example of the search filters:
For more information, see Filter options.
Improved unit of measurement display for item tiles
Item tiles now display units of measurement information for product variants. Before, units of measurement were missing for many item variants. This enhancement ensures consistent information across platforms and enhances the shopping experience for customers.
Improved fee disclosures
Storefront fee disclosures are now clearer and easier to understand. Depending on location, stores will have different types of fee displays, like no disclosure, simple disclosures, or detailed prominent disclosures. Prominent disclosures will highlight fees like service and bag costs and explain if fees change based on delivery options. These updates follow rules to meet legal requirements and help build trust with customers.
For more information, contact your Instacart representative.
