Delivery

Delivery is the fulfillment option that lets you offer delivery service to your customers. Customers can place delivery orders if they live in an area that's serviced by Instacart.

Delivery has the following options:

• Full service delivery. The standard fulfillment model that leverages personal shoppers to pick and deliver orders.
• Partner pick, delivery only. Store associates pick and stage orders in a dedicated staging area, so that personal shoppers can deliver them. For more information, see Partner pick.

Example journey

1. On the storefront, the customer selects delivery.
2. The customer adds items to their cart and places the order.
3. Instacart creates the order.
4. If the customer opts in, the customer receives an SMS with a link to an order status page.
5. A shopper or store associate picks the order and checks out. If a store associate picks the order, they place the order in the staging area and a shopper is assigned to collect and deliver the order.
6. A shopper starts delivering the order.
7. The customer receives a notification that the shopper has checked out and the delivery is on its way.
8. The shopper arrives at the customer location.
9. The shopper delivers the order following the instructions provided by the customer.
