Before you get started, review the following key concepts.

Provider​

The owner of the source data. In this case, the provider is Instacart.

Partner or consumer​

The organizations that use the datasets provided through the share.

Instacart Data Hub​

Instacart's cleanroom environment within Snowflake allowing for secure data collaboration with partners.

Snowflake​

Snowflake is a cloud-based data warehousing solution that allows for secure data sharing between organizations. Instacart uses Snowflake to host the data and provide access to partners.

You can access Snowflake through the following interfaces:

  • Snowflake Developer APIs. The Snowflake Developer APIs enable you to interact with Snowflake programmatically.
  • Snowflake cleanroom UI. The Snowflake cleanroom UI enables you to interact with data in Snowflake. The user interface is easy for non-developers to learn and use, but it is limited in the advanced functionality that a developer might prefer.
