California Prop 65 warning requirements
If you are a retailer in the United States and conduct online business in California, you must display warnings as required by Proposition 65, which was approved by California voters in 1986. The resulting California Code 27 CCR § 25600.2 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
If you use ca_prop65_text
, ca_prop65_codes
is ignored.
To be sure you are legally compliant, enter the required warning text in the ca_prop65_text
field. You should not rely on the boilerplate warnings generated by ca_prop65_codes
to display legally compliant Proposition 65 warnings except as a fall-back solution. For more information, see Proposition 65. For assistance, contact your company's legal or regulatory experts.
For a list of California Proposition 65 codes, see the Proposition 65 List.
