Manage active promotions

This topic applies to retailers on Storefront Pro 4.x.

Instacart Marketplace and Storefront Pro behave differently when you edit the conditions or rewards of an existing promotion_group_id:

  • Instacart Marketplace automatically replaces the existing promotion.
  • Storefront Pro prevents you from inadvertently modifying conditions or rewards during a promotional period. Instead, Storefront Pro creates a new promotion. The original promotion continues to be displayed on your storefront. To avoid issues with overlapping promotions in Storefront Pro, set appropriate start and end dates that align with the promotional period.

If you want to edit the conditions or rewards of an active promotion, cancel the existing promotion and create a new one.

  1. Cancel the existing promotion. You can either manually cancel the promotion or contact your Instacart representative to cancel it for you.

    • To manually cancel a promotion:

      1. Edit the inventory file.

      2. Modify the promotion_end_at column to a past date.

      3. Upload the modified promotion.

        The promotion is canceled after the next morning update.

    • If you can’t wait until the next morning update, contact your Instacart representative for assistance. Provide them with the promotion_group_id that you want canceled.

  2. After the promotion is canceled, add a new entry in the inventory file with the new promotion. Be sure to use a new promotion_group_id. For more information, see Promotion requirements.

  3. Upload the catalog file to your storefront.

The promotion is active after the next morning update.
