Product availability on retailer storefronts
Retailer-provided information forms the foundation of the Instacart product catalog. In general, a product can be shown on a retailer storefront when the retailer adds a product's UPC to their catalog—either by uploading an inventory file or through their Instacart retailer dashboard—and provides the required data to indicate that the product is available.
If a retailer adds a UPC that exists in Instacart's catalog, the product is matched to the same UPC. If the UPC doesn't exist in Instacart's catalog, a new product is created. After a product goes live on a retailer's storefront, the retailer, advertising partner, or Content Service Provider (CSP) can update the information. Instacart's advertising partners can update product information using the product library in Ads Manager.
New product information
Advertising partners can send Instacart information about new products through their CSP partners. Instacart stores the content received from CSPs in the Universal Catalog. When a retailer adds a new UPC to their Instacart inventory file or through their Instacart retailer dashboard, the product is displayed on their storefronts.
To ensure that your product information is displayed for new products, send the information to Instacart as soon as you have it available. Collaborate with retail partners to ensure the correct UPCs are included in their inventory files or dashboards.
