Managing promotion groups
Beta refers to pre-release features or products that are under active development and available for users to try out.
After launching a promotion, you can monitor its status, make certain edits, pause or end it, and view its performance — all from the Promotion groups page in Ads Manager.
Viewing your promotions
To access the Promotion groups page, click Library in the left navigation and select Promotions. The Promotion groups page shows all your promotion groups and their current status.
From the Promotion groups page you can:
- See all active, scheduled, paused, and ended promotions
- Filter by status or date range
- Click a promotion name to view detailed performance data
- Export your promotions data to CSV
Promotion statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Active | The promotion is live and being served to eligible customers at checkout. |
| Scheduled | The promotion is set up and waiting for its start date. |
| Paused | The promotion has been paused and is not serving. Spend is halted. |
| Ended | The promotion has reached its end date or exhausted its total budget. |
| Draft | The promotion has been saved but not yet launched. |
| Budget exhausted | The total budget has been fully spent. The promotion stopped serving automatically. |
What you can edit after launch
Some promotion settings can be changed after launch; others are locked to ensure billing and reporting accuracy.
| Field | Editable? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| End date | Yes | Can be extended after launch. |
| Total budget | Yes | Can be increased after launch. Cannot be decreased below amount already spent. |
| Promotion name | Yes | Internal label only; not customer-facing. |
| Targeting | Yes | Can be updated after launch. |
| Promotion type | No | Dollar off vs. percent off cannot be changed after launch. |
| Savings amount | No | Locked at launch. |
| Minimum amount | No | Cannot be changed once the promotion is live. |
| Maximum discount amount | No | Locked at launch. Applies to Percent off basket promotions only. |
| Start date | No | Cannot be backdated or changed after launch. |
Changes to editable fields may take up to 2 hours to take effect. Spend that has already been incurred is not refundable if you reduce or end a promotion early.
Pausing and resuming a promotion group
You can pause an active promotion at any time. When paused, the promotion stops serving to customers and no new redemptions can occur. Pausing does not affect spend already incurred.
-
From the Promotion groups page, find the promotion group you want to pause (use the Promotion group name search if needed).
-
Use the Enabled toggle to pause the promotion group.
-
To resume, toggle Enabled back on.
The promotion group resumes serving within 2 hours.
Ending a promotion group early
To end a promotion group before its scheduled end date, contact your Instacart representative. If timing is not urgent, you can also pause the promotion to halt serving while you arrange the early end.
- Contact your Instacart representative to end the promotion immediately.
Ending a promotion group cannot be undone. Once a promotion group has Ended status, it cannot be reactivated. If you want to run the same promotion again, create a new promotion group with the same settings.
Duplicating a promotion group
To quickly re-run a promotion with the same or similar settings, use the Duplicate option. From the Promotion groups page, click the three-dot menu next to a promotion and select Duplicate. This creates a new draft with the same settings, which you can edit before launching.
